RLI's prestigious panel of highly-respected business leaders from the commercial real estate industry from around the world judged retail & leisure nominations for their merit and positive impact on the market. This year, seventy companies from all over the world were shortlisted across fifteen categories and once again the Global RLI Awards honored the most visionary and innovative retail and leisure concepts from across the globe.
The international professional community commended the work of ADG group on its project to reconstruct rundown Soviet cinemas into modern neighborhood centers in residential areas of Moscow, combining formats for cultural leisure activities and family shopping. ADG group competed for the title of best developer against leading international companies, which once again emphasizes the innovative significance of the project.
ADG group, Aksal Group (retail, luxury goods and shopping centers), Gulf Related (shopping, residential and elite multifunctional real estate in the Middle East) and Marakez (one of the largest real estate investors in the Middle East) competed for the right to be named the best developer.
Maxim Karbasnikoff, Head of the Commercial Department at ADG group, said: "The neighborhood center is a new concept of public space that combines opportunities for family shopping and neighborhood leisure, which was created by the company in response to current consumer trends and the expectations of Muscovites living outside the city center. This is also a unique opportunity for our tenants, as the layouts of our centers provide visitors with easy and clear access to any point of sale. For us, it is extremely important that the concept, architectural and visual design of our neighborhood centers has been praised by a renowned international jury. This award shows that our centers are in line with the best global trends".
Leading global experts in the field of architecture and urban design were engaged in the project. The architectural concept was masterminded by Amanda Levete, who was behind the reconstruction project for the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the winner of the prestigious Sterling Prize.
The large-scale project includes reconstruction of more than 30 properties and is being carried out in stages. To date, the Angara and Elbrus neighborhood centers have opened their doors to visitors, while Budapest, Neva, Rassvet, Mars and Vysota are nearing completion. Their opening is scheduled for autumn 2020.
The reconstructed centers will accommodate modern multi-screen high-comfort cinemas, food halls with a wide range of gastronomic concepts of cafes and restaurants to suit every taste and provide a family atmosphere. There will also be clubs for children with educational and entertainment activities, as well as play areas. As such, the neighborhood centers will be a focal point for the whole family. The centers will feature Lenta supermarkets, farmers' stores, as well as stores selling household, sports and children's goods, in addition to cosmetics and electronics. Pharmacies, beauty salons, household service shops and other stores and services chosen according to the individual preferences of the residents of each district will also be at visitors' disposal.
